What is Input Device and Example?

An input device is any hardware component that allows users to enter data, commands, or responses into a computer system. These devices send information to the computer for processing.

Examples of Input Devices:

  1. Keyboard – Used for typing text and commands.
  2. Mouse – Controls the cursor and selects items on the screen.
  3. Touchscreen – Allows input by touching the display.
  4. Microphone – Captures audio input (voice, sounds).
  5. Scanner – Converts physical documents into digital images.
  6. Webcam – Captures video input for video calls or recordings.
  7. Joystick/Gamepad – Used for gaming and controlling movements.
  8. Barcode Reader – Scans barcodes for product identification.
  9. Biometric Devices (e.g., Fingerprint Scanner) – Reads biological data for security.
  10. Digital Pen/Stylus – Used for drawing or writing on touchscreens.
